Furniture design software DESIGN SINTEZ

Cut Base -  Additional module to Design Sintez. Creates cutting maps of sheet materials for manufacture of furniture. The module is build- in Design Sintez. It uses the graphic drawing as a basis, and the calculated quantity of materials in module Calc Base  at automatic cutting. There is a manual entering of elements and choice of material, too.

The cutting  executes on the base of the current drawing (opened and active) and connected materials to the counted up quantity on elements (Price offer formation -- > Register of elements).   At each addition of new units or edition of existing in the drawing you have to  generate the price offer and to open Register of elements again.  So you update the register with the quantity of element on basis of  participating in the job units, used by the module for cutting. You can add other drawings from program system to the current one. They can be united in one common cutting.  Certainly,  this is possible, if you have created the respective nomenclatures: materials, elements and units. Subject of cutting are materials and elements with a unit of measure sq.m only.

The modules, which generate multielement units, automatically give an  information about this  which elements sides must be edgebanded.  At Automatic cutting those sides, to which is added edgeband, are checked automatically.




Joining of some jobs in common cutting map - The operation is enable for Design Sintez Professional only

This button opens a dialog Open job FORM to choose a drawing for addition. Select the necessary job and press Add job. A subject of insertion are those drawings which are not opened. Before the joining, you have to execute the operation Price offer formation and to connect the elements in it with materials. If you want to delete a drawing  from the list, select it and press the button Delete a job added to the current cutting.

After loading all necessary jobs press the button Calculation of the jobs for cutting. Now you are ready for  the cutting operation.

For the united jobs are active these operations: Cutting materials on elements,  Export, Export to Optimik, Export to  Plan IQ, Export to Cutting  and the report   Material expenditure. The reports Specification on details, Total expense of materials on elements and Calculation on units/ all are not active and cannot be done.

The maximal number of elements for cutting is 100000 (maximal number of different heights of elements on Y - 100, and for each height - up to 1000 elements with different length on X). The size of an element on a texture  direction (vein)  is the element  height.

Export to Optimik - This button creates a export file for cutting with software Optimik. The file is saved in the folder "acad_pic / temp" by default.Click on the button located to the right of this field to select another path to the created export file. Loads a new window where can select  another location.The file name matches the name of the drawing+_material name and the file extension is cvs. You must have in mind that if the name of the exported material exceed 15 characters, it will be cut when you execute import to Optimik. It is therefore advisable to use materials with short names.

Export to Cutting - This button creates a export file for cutting with software Cutting3. The file is saved in the folder "acad_pic / temp" by default. Click on the button located to the right of this field to select another path to the created export file. Loads a new window where can select  another location. The file name matches the name of the drawing+string "_CUTTING"+_material name. The file extension is tc3. It's obligatory to enter the number of material in Cutting into the field MaterialNum - Order. If you want to create export files for all materials in the job simultaneously, check the option Exports all materials and then click on Export button.

Export to  Giben (enabled for Design Sintez Professional) - This button creates a export file for cutting with software Giben office. The file is saved in the folder "acad_pic / temp" by default.Click on the button located to the right of this field to select another path to the created export file. Loads a new window where can select  another location. The file name matches the name of the drawing+string "_Giben"+_material name. The file extension is XLS.

Export to ARDIS (enabled for Design Sintez Professional) - This button creates a export file for cutting.The file is saved in the folder "acad_pic / temp" by default.Click on the button located to the right of this field to select another path to the created export file.Loads a new window where can select  another location. The file name matches the name of the drawing+string "ARDIS_"+_material name. The file extension is STK.

- The button loads a window containing the main parameters of the module and in particular those of the reports.


Cutting reports' settings

Percent of  waste at calculation of necessary number of sheets - The value defines the percentage by which to increase the calculated area of sheet material in determining the necessary number of sheets of it. Reflected in the report Material expenditure (field Approximately number of sheets/).

Technological waste of material edgeband-  Sets the value, which must be added to the length of each edgeband  element nomenclature. It calculates only for materials for which this is defined in the Nomenclature materials (the option Calculates techological waste must be enabled).It is used in the report Material expenditure.

Section Specification of details, Total expense on elements - The options in this section set how to be displayed the information in the desribed reports:

Option Sort by units - If it is checked the reports' contents will be sorted by a units names in the job irrespective of unit of measure of their elements.

Option Sort by unit of measure - If it is checked the reports' contents will be sorted by a unit of measure of elements in the job. In the beginning of the list will be described the elements with unit "sq.m." and then these with "l.m.".  In the end of the list will be described   the elements with a unit of measure "pieces".

Design Sintez Professional -Option "Expense of materials , attached to Operations ,connected to materials in nomenclature Materials-> Operations" (in short expense Operations- Materials)- Reflected in the report in a table view  "Calculation on units". Provides information about the cost of materials necessary to perform the operations to manufacture a product. Based on the connection of a material to an operation. Besides, the operation must to have set a Material consumption rate.  Accordingly, for its part, the operation must be attached to material , connected with elements from " Register of participating in the drawing elements “.  It is calculated as follows: The quantity of material , related to elements from the inventory is multiplied by the expense rate of the secondary material (attached to the operation, which is connected to the original material). The result is multiplied by the price of secondary material per unit of material.

For example: the material connected to an element in “Register of participating in the drawing elements “ is EDGEBAND and its quantity is 20 meters. To the edgeband is attached operation EDGEBANDING . For its part to EDGEBANDING operation is attached material glue with expense rate 0.1 pc. per unit material and unit price 10 BGN./package. Activating the button PRO we receive: expense “Operations - Materials "= 20 BGN (20 l.m x 0.1 package glue  - material consumption rate x 10 BGN (cost of 1 package glue)).

Supplying and storage expenses % - Contains the percentage of delivered - storage costs for article. It defines on the base of the calculated value of materials in it in the report   Calculation on units.

Includes section Labour in report Calculation by units - the condition of this option defines how will be calculated the sum of labour for the job in the report  Calculation on units. When the the option is disabled , all items in account of labour value are ignored for separate articles. The account is made for the whole job in the report Total calculation, taking the value defined in the module Open job, Information about job, page Summary (for Design Sintez Professional) or nothing is added  (for Design Sintez Standard).

Add a section "Services" in the report "Calculation on units" - The option regulates the inclusion (if it's checkek) or not (if it's not checked) of the service Services in the report Calculation on units/ Total.

Design Sintez Professional - Option Charged work by Elements->Operations - It is included in the report Calculation on units. The formation of this cost is based on generating units in certain parts thereof (left end , bottom, top , etc.) with operations, which are used in their processing. Based on the cost of operation “for the whole operation " and number of related elements , when there is generate a price offer for the job ( Module Price offer formation, Elements’ list, button PRO) it is calculating the expense "Elements-> Operations" , such as the sum of the number of elements by price operation , with which they are connected. If there are several elements, related to different operations, quantity accumulate. For example: 1 element , connected with a price Operation 1 with price BGN 2 / operation and 3 elements , related to Operation 2 with price for operation 5 BGN. Pressing the button PRO in module Price offer formation, we get:

  • Total                                       17 BGN

Thus the estimated cost is included in the final cost of the article.

Charged labour by Materials - Operations - It is included in the report Calculation on units. The material quantity connected with operation multiplies by the price for processing of unit of material. When the option is not checked this sum will be not calculated.

Additional expenses - This is the percentage of additional expences, which increases the amount of work. The price of labor is defined as a product of the number of hours and the price of one working hour. Participate in the report   Calculation on units

Profits % - Here defines the profit's percentage for calculating of the end price of article. Participate in the report Calculation on units

VAT % - Here defines the value (%) of VAT set out in forming the final price of the drawing. Participate in the report Calculation total

Text fields  Text field under "Delivery and inatallation" and Text field under "Total incl. VAT" - Here can be entered supplementary explanatory texts visible in the report  Calculation total.

The cutting makes for each material one by one. In the list with elements are loaded only those elements, which are connected with the concrete material, subject of cutting.

Razkrojk4   The chosen material can be cut off on its external dimensions. So at cutting of elements there won't be roughnesses or deformations at the ends of sheets.The entered values for deprivation of a sheet are set by default for the concrete job at each start of the automatic cutting.

First Cut - With the first cut can eliminate damages at the edge of the sheet. The size of the sheet is reduced by the entered values at each side.

The distances for first cut can be defined for each side separately or for all sides with identical value. When it has to be done for each sheet separately, check an option Change value First Cut for each sheet.  So after each cutted sheet,will be shown a brief dialogue form for definition of deviations for the next sheet.  Standartly  the sheet sizes on X and on Y answer on the texture direction of  material. The purpose is that cutting  proceeds on the texture direction ("vein") of the sheet. When you work with one-colour materials you  can "turn" the sheet, checking a field Rotate the sheet sizes.The cutting executes: from the left to the right and from below upwards. So you will  get other disposal of elements on sheets. Each groove can be cut on 3 additional grooves etc. in a geometrical progression. From here you will get other scheme  of ordering of elements on sheets.

Cutting settings
In the  window  Cutting parameters are set by  default all parameters at each start of the operation.  The value Cutting Width can be changed for each material. The check Allows change of dimensions  of sheets gives you an opportunity to change the sizes on X and Y with the purpose of cutting big  residual components of the chosen material.

Save elements as blocks gives  you an opportunity to manipulate with separate elements in the drawing (together with their names and sizes). You can uncheck the option, when the names of the elements are too long or you want to change the texts (module 2D Text).
Add names of elements and units - the option allows you  to refuse the addition of the names of elements and units in the scheme of the cutting  material when because of the small sizes of materials, the texts  stand each over another or would pass in the next elements. It makes the drawing confusing.  
Adds the names of units in the list under a cutting map - The option defines whatever to be included (if enabled) or not (if disabled)  the unit's name to which each detail belongs in the lists of details' description under the nested sheets.
Marks the sides of elements subjects of edging - Regulates whether   there will be markers on the sides of the elements or not. Parameter is valid irrespective what the kind of cutting is.
Minimal font size - You can decrease the font size on 0.02 if the names of elements are  very long and  there is an overlapping with the next elements.
Unit of measure -  The section is added in the form for manual and automatic cutting. Here you can choose a unit of measure for dimensioning  of elements on the cut-sized sheet.

Colour of the details' numbers in the cutting maps - The colour of numbers by default is white. Select new from the dropping out list to change it.

Shows the list of elements under the cut material - This option defines the place of the names of the cut details - on details or in list under each sheet. If the option is not chosen, the names of elements are on the cut sheet. This  can become a reason for names that overlaps and unattractiveness of the drawing. When the option is active each detail get number and under each sheet there is a list. This list contains: 1. detail number ; 2. Unit name; 3. Detail name and its sizes.

 In these cases it  is necessary to check Allows change of dimensions of sheet   too, to be able to enter the sizes of the next sheets after cutting of the  residual material. The option which  allows change of the sizes, become inactive automatically after the end of operation. The button Next initializes (activates) the cutting process. Opens the service drawing "gen_wyzel_otgore_COPY" (for cutting) and the window Elements for cutting.

Here are listed all details for cutting and their sizes. Use buttons Turns the dimensions of specified by default details and Turns the sizes of the marked details to rotate the detail sizes.  The first button  turns all details specified in the form Parameters by default (module Cabinet ---> page Elements) automatically.  The second button turns only the specified in the list details (selected rows). Information about this which details are with turned sizes is shown in the column Rotated sizes.  The set rotation of elements' sizes in the list for cutting will be cancelled after each cabinet editing.

 The elements in the list can be sorted by columns: "Element name", Dimensions "on X" and "on Y", "Element No" (press  left button on a column title). The sorting proceed only once, in ascending order of values. The column Element name sorts in alphabetic order.

Export to Plan-IQ - The button Export creates an export file for cutting with software Plan-IQ. The file is saved in the folder "acad_pic / temp".The file name matches the name of the drawing+string "_PLAN_IQ"+_material name.The file extension is tc3.

The button Print element's list shows on the screen a list of elements for cutting and their sizes  and edgebanding. This list can be printed out. The report looks like this.

Button Edgebands open the dialogue form  Choice of edgeband. Here you can set those edgebands, which will be shown as "thick" on a cutting card (edges of doors for example) and those which will be "thin".  By default is set "thin" edge. To designate it as "thick" select the row and if you want - change the colour. If you have any elements connected to a material, which is specified as thick or thick 2 in the Nomenclature materials, this flag will be checked automatically in the list and in a cutting map. On a cutting map the thin edgeband is  designated by a thin line. The thick edge - with thicker line  and Thick 2 - thickest line. This way these 3 kinds of edgeband are divided visually on the cutting map.

By default all three kinds of edgebands have white colour. This colour can be changed from the respective dropping out list in a window Choice of edgeband.

To save the made changes press  the button Save.


Cut the element, Does not cut the element  -  These buttons add or exclude elements from the list for cutting. Select an element for exclusion and press the button Does not cut the element. If you want to add an already excluded element again to the list, select it and press the button  Cut the element. You can make a group selection of elements. For not next  selection of rows keep the key Ctrl pressed.

Element No  - Here is shown the element position from its previous cutting. The purpose of this is better orientation of the operator for cutting optimization.

When you have made all changes, press the button  Cutting to continue. For a cancellation of the operation press Stop operation. The service drawing closes and you returns in the original drawing.

The dark blue lines show a position of thick edgeband on elements, the blue lines - thin edgeband. 

  The file, in which makes the cutting , saves  in directory (folder) "\acad_pic\temp".  At repeated start of cutting of the same material from the same job, the new file overwrites the already existing. If you want to keep it, change its name after cutting. Above each one sheet shows an information about the name of the job, about the material, about deprivation  from the sides, about the total  used area from the respective sheet and about the residual  not cut area  (the rest of material).  The elements are described as sizes, element name and unit, to which it belongs.  All of them are saved as blocks (as units) with an identical base point and it is not recommended to move them manually from one sheet on another for example. The reason - if you have  entered saw blade thickness, at moving an element it can not be marked as distance to the other elements.  Depending on the number of the cut sheets, the drawing will be scaled automatically with the purpose to be seen all sheets on the screen. To see in details concrete sheet, use operation Scale area or only Scale.  In a similar way you can prepare for printing each sheet separately. In the dialogue form for printing it is necessary to choose Window < , to define the scaled area of the screen (if you did not scale such, in the form for printing in section Plot area check Extents before a choice of area from the screen - button  (Window <)).

Reports

The program generates three kinds of reports in Excel or OpenOffice files, depending on the specified in System parameters. The file name is identical with the job's name and the sheet name is identical with the name of the respective report. The details' sizes are in that unit of measure, which is specified in page Parameters by default in the module.

  • Materials expenditure
  • Specification of details
  • Total expense of materials on elements

Materials expenditure - This report contains list with all elements that are connected with materials in the drawing. If there are some jobs united in one cutting, there will load the common  quantity of the materials for all jobs in the list. All units in the job created by modules Cabinet and Doors with fixed price and same name are kept as one common material with unit of measure pieces and quantity = 1.The units  from Units register, connected with materials in the drawing, are included too. Those with selected number of price column from Units register will not participate.The list includes:

  1. Material name
  2. The number of details(elements) from it
  3. Quantity - The calculated material expense without charged waste.
  4. The material unit of measure
  5. The needed number of material sheets for sheet materials.
  6. Puchasing price and  Total sum  on sale prices for each material  without the given percent of waste for sheet materials or Technological waste for materials in measure "l.m.".
  7. Total sum on sale prices for each material without the given percent of the waste for sheet materials or Technological waste for materials in measure "l.m.".
  8. Qantity + Techn. waste -  Shows the quantity of materials with unit of measure l.m. (edgeband in this case) which is a sum of  the calculated amount of material  without waste and the quantity ot their  technological waste (the value for the  technological waste for one element nomenclature is desfined in window Cutting parameters).
  9. Total sum on sale prices - This column shows the monetary value of the materials.  It is calculated as a result of the necessary material quantity, multiplied by the unit price of materials.  For materials with a measure square meters includes the defined rate of waste for calculating the sheets pieces (it defines in the window Cutting parameters ---> page Reports' parameters). For materials with a measure l.m. takes the value into the field Quantity + Techn. waste .

Design Sintez Professional:  The report includes subreports Expenditure of applied materials to operations which are connected with materials in nomenclature "Materials-> Operations" and  Material expenditure of edgebands for each material subject of cutting.

  • Expenditure of applied materials to operations which are connected with materials in nomenclature "Materials-> Operations" (shortly expense Operations - Materials ) - Based on the connection of a material to an operation. Besides, the operation must to have set a Material consumption rate for the material. Accordingly, for its part, the operation must be attached to material , connected with elements from " Register of participating in the drawing elements “. It is calculated as follows: The quantity of material , related to elements from the inventory is multiplied by the expense rate of the secondary material (attached to the operation, which is set for the original material). The result is multiplied by the price of secondary material per unit of material.
    For example: the material connected to an element in “Register of participating in the drawing elements “ is EDGEBAND and its quantity is 20 meters. To the edgeband is attached operation EDGEBANDING with price “per unit of material" from 2.5 BGN . For its part to EDGEBANDING operation is attached material glue with expense rate 0.1 pc. per unit material and unit price 10 BGN./package. Activating the button PRO we receive: expense “Operations - Materials "= 20 BGN (0.1 package glue x 20 l.m. - material consumption rate  x 10 BGN (cost of 1 package glue)).
  • Material expenditure of edgebands for each material for cutting - Contains report on each sheet material of the job , subject of cutting , with what edgebands and the quantity of each edgeband.


Calculation on units/ Total

This reports provides information about the value of the products in the drawing and their cost on units and summarizing for the whole drawing. Contains generated units with element nomenclature and unit of measure lm, sq.m. or pieces and non-standard units from Units register. The units from Archival Units register are not included.

Calculation on units- The report contains information about the value of the products of the drawing. For each article calculates individual price on the base of the materials' cost, the expenses of labor and delivery, and the set profit percentage.All units in the job created by modules Cabinet and Doors with fixed price and same name are kept as one item with common price.

Calculation on units

The section "Services" can be included or excluded from the report. That defines in the window Parameters by default in page Reports' parameters  by activating or exclusion of the option Add a section "Services" in the report "Calculation on units".

Thus will look the report if you use version Design Sintez Professional . What items will it include defines in  module Cutting, Parameters by default, page Reports' settings.

Total calculation
The report contains information about the value and the end cost of the drawing. It is determined based on the prices of the units in it, calculated in report Calculation on units. When calculates the selling price  to the total value adds the transport and installation expenses (they have to be entered for each drawing) and charges VAT. The units with  a zero value and without element nomenclature does not participate in the calculation.


Total calculation

Design Sintez Professional - The value of labour costs can be set as a common for a whole job or separately for each article.  For this purpose the option  Includes section Labour in report Calculation by units must be switched off (Parameters by default, page Reports' settings), and in module Open job, Information about job, page Summary  must be entererd a value of labour cost for the entire job.

Specification of details - Shows detailed list with all elements that construct the units, regardless if they will be subject of cutting.Except the element names and their sizes, the detailed list includes: materials description,with which are connected the elements; the unit of measure and the quantity of the element; which sides will be edgebanded and information if the elements are with unrectangular shape. The text for the non-rectangular details is specified in the dialogue Cutting parameters.

Total expense of materials on elements - Summary list of the details of the units in the job. It includes: detail name, its number in the job, its sizes and unit of measure, and the quantity of this element.




Manual cutting

This method gives you an opportunity to avoid the direct dependence of the cutting as an operation, which is quite connected with the current drawing. You can cut  out sheet material, entering  manually the elements, their sizes, names and to which unit they belong (free text). The mode (way) of work and parameters are  similar to the automatic definition of elements. 

Sequence of operations:

  1. Open  New empty drawing and save  it  under a user  name (Save a job FORM) in the selected folder. Job,that is being used for Manual cutting, must not be used for other purposes, because that can bring a mess.
  2. The module Cutting  of materials PRO (Command menager--> Cutting  of materials PRO) opens in a mode for  manual entering of the elements.
  3. Select a material - use the button Material. The form for a choice of a material from Nomenclature of materials loads . Select a material and press the button
  4. The button New opens a new row  in the list. In fields under the inventory you must enter a name of an element, its sizes and number. All fields are obligatory, except Unit name.  Obligatory for entering are all fields without marks indicating the sides , on which the element will be edgebanded.  For maximum fast entering of elements, after each one value press the key Enter. The cursor moves between the fields.
    When the used material has a texture  (paint, i.e. material is not one-colour), the value of "On Y" is a direction on sheet "paint".
  5. For each list item can be set edging. Put a check mark on the needed detail's side in the section Ending. By default, the edging performes with a thin edgeband. To change the edgeband's kind to Thick or Thick2 select one of two options under the selected detail's side (the first option set edging with Thick edgeband and the second  - with  edgeband labeled Thick 2). Thus can be set 3 different types of edgeband on the cutting map. Every one of them is marked with a different marker (the most fat it is for  "Thick 2" and the thinnest - for the thin edgeband). The color of the lines is defined by the settings made for the color of edgebands in module Automatic cutting.

    In the bottom left corner of the window (section Edgeband consumption) is shown the quantity of each type of edgeband. The calculated value is clear and does not include waste.

  6. The copying of elements and addition of their copies in the list saves time at the description of homogeneous elements with the similar or identical     description. The button Turns  X-Y enables to change the values on axes, which subsequently at cutting will define other position for an element (for one-colour materials). 
  7. If you have entered all the necessary elements, press the button Set. It closes the current window and loads the next one (for the settings of  the cutting). Specify the necessary settings and press the button Cutting. The cutting  makes in a service job. The list of the  elements saves  under a job name in a directory (folder) "...\acad_pic\temp".

Note: To display text and numbers to the cutting map, you need to execute operation  (button from Manager of operations and commands).

Approximately necessary number of sheets of the chosen material -  Calculates number of the necessary sheets depending on their sizes on base of the  Total  volume -sq.m. (sum of all elements)  and entered Percent of  losses at calculation of necessary sheets.

After the end of the cutting , when the option Doesn't cutt material on the screen is active, in the form are shown the fields Total number of cutting sheets and  Sheet for printing . Here you can enter number of a sheet for visualization on the screen or for printing (use the two additional buttons below). For consecutive printing of all sheets press the button "printer". The counter will be overturned automatically for each next sheet.

Additional options and parameters by default at Manual cutting:

The value into a field  Percent of  wastes at calculation of necessary sheets  regulates in %  what will be the expected  loss of a material at cutting. It  is used for calculation of the necessary number of sheets on base of the total sum in of elements, subjects of cutting  + calculated percent (%)  of the losses. The option is active only at manual cutting.

The option Doesn't cut material on the screen defines how  will be made cutting: whether it will be  seen on the screen or in a background mode. If you  mark an option, the process of the cutting will be executed, but will not be shown on the screen.. It reduces time of cutting with about 80 %. Turn on the  option at large cuttings. The purpose of this action is to avoid  the blocking of your computer because of the insufficient memory and reduction of time for cutting.


Additional operations in the form for change of the sizes of a sheet and deprivation from the sheets.

Number of the next  sheet - shows an information about the number of the next sheet for cutting.

The rest for cutting - shows the information about the total residual volume of the material for cutting.

When you close the drawing, the program asks whether  you want to save the entered  elements or not. If you answer Yes it will be saved and you can use it again. If you don't want to keep it, press No.

To load again the same list with elements, open the drawing with the pevious cutting  and remove its content on the screen (not in the form). So at start of the operation the existing set of elements and chosen material from previous cutting will be kept.
